Re: CCMS

I think this would be very helpful and that it would be very constructive to share experiences and effect change!!. We have not started using it here although we did have some abortive attempts earlier this year. One of the major difficulties we are facing is in relation to clients who are in receipt of pass ported benefits. The CCMS system requires us to confirm we have a letter from the DWP. Great if we do as we simply tick YES and can proceed with the application but if we don't have this letter we have (quite rightly) been ticking NO and then we cannot proceed with the application. Given a lot of our work is urgent and our client group mostly do not bring in or don't have such a letter, we have reverted to making paper applications - which is okay for now but in the future will not be possible. I took part in a CCMS webinar yesterday and raised a question in relation to this and was told by the trainer that if we do not have the letter we should still answer YES to the question as we have 14 days to provide the documentation. I am far from comfortable with this and will not give false information in order to make the application, this has real and serious implications for us as solicitors. Participants in the training have been told we will receive an email in relation to this point. Our practice here is to phone the DWP to check which benefit is being received but the CCMS system does not allow for telephone confirmation as evidence. It would be good to know if other agencies have experienced this and how you are dealing with it. Regards, Fiona Mogre, Housing Unit, Islington Law Centre
